Built around your biology. Not someone else’s.

Salerna exists because the fitness industry has spent decades building for a generic user who doesn't exist. Workout apps give the same program to a 22-year-old college athlete and a 47-year-old woman in perimenopause. Cycle tracking apps tell you to "take it easy during your period" without offering actual programming. And when it comes to conditions like PCOS, endometriosis, or GLP-1 medication, the industry has nothing.

We built what should have existed already: strength training that treats female biology as a feature, not an edge case.

FOUNDER

Why I Built This

I'm Mat, the founder and CEO of Salerna. I hold an MBA and a CrossFit Level 1 certification. Before Salerna, I spent years in business and technology, and I spent years coaching people through strength training.

The gap between what the research says about training women and what the fitness industry actually delivers is enormous. The science is clear: hormonal fluctuations change how women respond to training. Perimenopause and menopause require heavier loading, not lighter. Pregnancy demands trimester-specific modifications, not "just do what feels right." PCOS and endometriosis need condition-aware programming, not generic "low impact" suggestions.

I built Salerna because I got tired of watching the industry ignore what the research has been saying for over a decade. Salerna implements the science that already exists. We didn't invent exercise physiology, we just finally built software that respects it.

OUR PRINCIPLES

What We Believe

Evidence Over Convention

Every programming decision traces back to a clinical guideline or peer-reviewed research. We don't follow fitness trends. ACSM, NSCA, ACOG, and APTA guidelines are our source of truth.

This isn't a cycle tracking app that suggests workouts. It's a strength training engine that treats female biology as a first-class input to programming decisions.

Your Body Outranks the Algorithm

Our engine is sophisticated, but you always have the final say. Daily check-ins let your lived experience override the programming. If you feel off, the workout adjusts. Your body knows more than any algorithm.

Privacy Is Non-Negotiable

Your health data is yours. We don't sell it. We don't share it. We don't serve ads. We built our architecture around the principle that your body is not a business model.

Clinical Credibility, Not Influencer Hype

We partner with doctors of physical therapy, nurse practitioners, and clinical researchers. Our credibility comes from evidence, not follower counts. Every claim on this site is defensible.

CLINICAL ADVISORY BOARD

The clinical minds behind the platform.

Salerna's programming is reviewed by specialists in pelvic floor rehabilitation, exercise physiology, and women's health.

Kelsey Beach, DPT, CMTPT

Pelvic Floor and Postpartum Rehabilitation

Founder of enCORE Therapy and Performance. Over a decade specializing in pelvic floor physical therapy, pregnancy, postpartum care, and birth preparation. Scope: postpartum protocols, pelvic floor integration, and exercise safety across every lifecycle stage.

Marissa Baranauskas, PhD

Exercise Physiology

Assistant Professor, Human Physiology and Nutrition, University of Colorado Colorado Springs. Postdoctoral research on exercise interventions for postmenopausal women's cardiovascular health. Scope: exercise physiology validation across menstrual cycle, perimenopause, and menopause programming.

OB/GYN, MSCP

Menopause Medicine

Anchor clinical advisor. Recruitment in progress. This advisor will oversee menopause and perimenopause clinical content, including hormone therapy interactions with training.

Endocrinologist

Hormonal Health

Role in active recruitment. Scope: hormonal expertise across lifecycle stages, including PCOS and GLP-1 medication programming interactions.

Advisory board recruitment is ongoing. Every clinical claim on this site is grounded in peer-reviewed research and reviewed before publication.

Why Salerna?

Salerna is a reference to the twelfth-century medical practitioner and medical writer Trota who lived in Salerno, a coastal town in Italy. She studied at the Schola Medica Salernitana, the first medical school in Europe to allow women. Trota focused on topics such as obstetrics and gynecology and was one of the most famous physicians of that time period.

Company

Salerna is a product of ZonalFit Technologies Inc, registered in Oregon. Our provisional utility patent covers the lifecycle-adaptive workout generation system, including the integration of reproductive lifecycle context with deterministic exercise programming.
